Independent. Italian.
Ssheena is equivocal by choice. An independent Milanese women's clothing brand that doesn't explain itself, because the right woman already gets it.
Born from the Ramones' punk spirit, named after a song that became a feminist anthem before anyone called it that, Ssheena makes contemporary women's fashion entirely in Italy.
Garments with a quiet attitude, where the brand's signature double-S waves hide in the stitching rather than shout from a label.
Worn by women who dress for themselves.
Ssheena is not a fashion brand.
It is a woman.
Possibly neurotic.
Definitely her own.
Ssheena was born in Milan in 2015, founded by Sabrina Mandelli, and the name comes from the Ramones: Sheena Is a Punk Rocker. Three simple lines that become an anthem. A woman who does what she wants. The double S stands for Sabrina, but Sabrina chose deliberately not to put her name on the label, because Ssheena was never meant to be about one person. It was meant to be an idea of a person.
That idea is specific. She is contradictory and makes a strength of it. She is drawn to art but does not collect it; she uses it, filters it,demolishes it.
She has cultural references that are not fashion references: Billy Wilder, Grey Gardens, the Ramones. She might walk into a room in something that looks wrong and make it look like the only possible choice.
She is iconoclastic not as a pose but as a reflex.Every piece is made entirely in Italy, from fabric to finish. Not as a marketing claim, but because it is the only way the clothes work.
The construction is part of the identity: you can feel it in the weight of a coat, in the way a knit holds its shape, in the small S-shaped detail hidden in a seam or a closure that you only notice if you know what to look for.
